History
Every spring the Voorjaarsdagen Conference is held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. (In Dutch, Voorjaarsdagen means "Spring Days".) Our conference has become an internationally acclaimed conference in companion animal medicine and surgery.
Since 1967, the Netherlands Association for Companion Animal Medicine (NACAM) has organised an annual conference for its members, non-members and veterinarians from abroad. With the passage of time, the conference has grown in popularity and size: the original one-day programme has been extended to three full days. The number of lectures has increased to eight simultaneous sessions. Nowadays more than 1000 veterinarians attend this conference annually.
Equine programme
From 2001 onwards, Voorjaarsdagen also hosts an equine programme. After very successful lustrum celebrations, the NEVA president, lustrum organising committee and the Voorjaarsdagen president agreed to incorporate an equine programme during Voorjaarsdagen Conference. The two simultaneous session have ever since brought the best CPD to Amsterdam. Close collaborations with NEVA, BEVA and the AAEP has made it possible to improve the programme so that it has become the equine spring meeting of the year!
Important aims of the Voorjaarsdagen Conference are to build friendship between veterinarians at a national and international level, to enhance the quality and availability of veterinary medicine and surgery, and to foster the exchange of scientific information among veterinarians. The presence of our strong scientific backbone, the Department of Clinical Sciences of Companion Animals ans the Department of Equine Sciences at Utrecht University with its world-renowned scientists, gives us extreme confidence to present the best there is in the field of companion animal medicine and surgery.
